600 - 3000 cfs
Between these ranges, the water level will be significantly less that what is normal. The river is still navigable, although there will be some rocks exposed within the shallow section. Experienced kayakers will be able to navigate around the rocks without exiting the kayak.
3000 - 3600 cfs
In this range some rocks are still visible as well as a steady current. This would be the ideal range to kayak and navigate through the Catawba River.
3600 - 6000 cfs
This range includes a strong current. Only experienced paddlers are recommended to attempt kayaking. If you classify yourself as an experienced kayaker and a strong swimmer, then attempt at your own risk.
